Family film
Thousands of pets are abandoned annually tossed from vehicles and left to die. Based on a true story reported by CNN, The Today Show, and National Geographic, "Clancy is the heartwarming, live-action story of one plucky abandoned puppy's search for love and security." Uniquely told from the point of view of animals themselves, the few human characters are barely glimpsed on screen, while the roles of the animal cast are intended for well-recognized voices. A number of 'big names' know about this project and will work on it as a labor of love, key roles have been written for their voices.
Tossed out of a car in the dry scrub hills outside a big city, roly-poly Clancy and his mother, Sheba, are separated. Clancy is found by Rescuer, a man dedicated to helping abandoned animals, and brought back to his animal shelter. There, Lady Margaret, an imperious cat, encourages Rescuer to put Clancy in a kennel yard with maternal Molly and gruff Yompo, a Scotty 'retired' after a long, hard life. Clancy also makes friends with Parnell, a sharp-eared bloodhound. Everyone loves Clancy and he is safe at the shelter - but he still longs to find his mother somehow. Yompo insists Clancy will soon give up this impossible dream.
Bleeding and hungry, Sheba searches for Clancy, but she is captured by Bad Boots, a crazy old hermit with a vendetta against animals. Bad Boots keeps Sheba barely alive to use her as a junk yard dog, warning him when anyone approaches his campsite that's filled with junk he's collected. Sheba feels the same way as Clancy: she also cannot rest easy until they are reunited.
With all the wonderful friends he's made at the shelter, Clancy is truly torn between wanting to stay where it's safe and his need to keep looking for Sheba, but he's determined to pick up his search somehow - and when an opportunity to run away from the shelter comes up, Clancy takes it.
Through friendly local wildlife, the shelter animals hear the infamous Bad Boots has Sheba trapped. Parnell is first to ask "How can we help?" Now even Yompo is eager to pitch in as Lady Margaret organizes all Clancy's animal friends, drafting 'General' Yompo to lead them.
Clancy continues his search for Sheba as his friends mount their efforts, each one contributing a special ability.
In a typical rage, Bad Boots decides to shoot Sheba, but doing so he accidentally starts a brushfire!
At the shelter, Rescuer sees smoke rising and takes off with Parnell along for the ride.
Clancy gets closer to Sheba's position through smoke and blowing embers. The fire surrounding them, tiny brave Clancy faces off against Bad Boots.
Parnell's sharp ears pick up the altercation between Clancy and Bad Boots and he leads Rescuer to them. Turning his gun on Rescuer, Bad Boots takes a false step and tumbles backwards down a hill, out for the count. Rescuer frees Sheba and she is reunited with Clancy. Rescuer brings the dogs safely out of the fire and back to the shelter where Yompo has found a new enthusiasm for life. At last Clancy is complete with a safe home and loving 'family'.
